An interactive 3D homepage in 94 kilobytes
Interactive 3D is assumed to be expensive. We built one and measured every byte. The scene itself came to 4.7 KB over the wire, and the whole page came in at roughly 4 percent of the median mobile page.
Finding. 94.4 KB over the wire across 7 requests, against a median mobile page of 2,164 KB across 66 requests. The 3D scene accounts for 4.7 KB of that.
